Classes and Curriculum
At The Dancer's Studio/Backstage we have classes to fit all ages and skill levels. From beginner to pre-professional and adult classes, we provide fun, developmental training to meet each student's needs.

These ages enjoy a one hour class. The first thirty minutes include creative dance, simplified ballet steps, and stretching. The second half of the hour is devoted to tap steps with fun songs. This class also includes games to develop rhythm, flexibility, coordination, and self-confidence.
Our six and seven year old students eagerly participate in our one hour ballet and tap or jazz combination class. This class is suitable for new students or as a natural progression for students of previous combination classes.
Students from age seven through teens and adults receive instruction for one hour, or for one and a half hours. Class length is determined by the teacher after an evaluation of an individual's dance level. This dance form teaches correct body placement, and provides a solid foundation for all dance forms. With proper preparation, and a teacher evaluation, pointe class may begin at age 10.
Classes are available to children, teens, and adults. This class is based on ballet, tap, and modern dance techniques. It is as contemporary as the music of today. Our one hour classes are offered to our younger students; more advanced students will take an hour and a half class. We strongly recommend that all jazz students have previous ballet training.
Truly America's Folk Dance! Classes are available for children, teens, and adults. Our tap classes teach timing, balance, and rhythm. We strongly recommend that all tap students have previous ballet and/or combination training.
A form of movement that stresses artistic individuality and unique choreographic style. Instead of being step based or purely music driven, modern dance focuses on space, levels, and shapes.
Students have a great time in this class, learning a form of dance set to the music they love! Based on street and video dance, this class is offered to ages eight and up. No previous dance training is required to attend a beginner hip hop class, placement in higher levels is based on teacher evaluation.
Not only do our students have the chance to learn dance as an art form, but also singing and acting in the Broadway theater tradition. Available to ages 8 and up, musical theater will weave these skills together to form one exciting experience for any student!
Contemporary/Lyrical dance is a continually evolving, expressive dance style that combines modern, jazz, and ballet using interconnected techniques to convey the emotion and a story behind a lyrical piece. The movement and emotions behind this type of dance requires stamina and a strong technical foundation.
It's never too late to learn ballet. Teen ballet classes offer a fun way to tone and tighten your body while learning the fundamental techniques of ballet.
Dance is a great form of aerobic/anaerobic exercise. It includes work on full-body strength, flexibility & coordination, as well as body posture and alignment. You're never too old to start!
Tap is a fun style of dance that anyone can learn regardless of age and previous dance experience. Tap builds strength in the legs and feet in addition to increasing flexibility in the hips, knees and ankles. Cognitive abilities are also enhanced as tap dancers develop both mental and muscle memory.
